Norwegian Elkhound Male – Working and Hiking Elkhound
Gifford is a working Norwegian Elkhound male that spends his time in the timber with Dan who has his own logging company and they are out in the forest every day. Gifford has been working with Dan as his pal and protection since he was a pup. He has been in the forest in the lifestyle of his ancestors with Dan for the past 7 years. He is a phenomenal working son of Jaegar and Kalia.
“Merv, I had a few free moments and popped by the Kamia Kennels blog to see what you guys have been up to. Looks like there are some fantastic dogs coming out of your kennel still. Dan and I got a pup from you almost 7 years ago from I believe Kalia and Jaegar. “
“Since then Dan and I have had three children and his forestry business is going strong. Gifford has been a fantastic partner and still works with Dan in the woods. He has also been a great home dog with good judgement and kindness with the kids.
“I read your post about your pups being healthy and hardy being fed raw diet. That reminded me of how healthy Gifford has been his entire life. Gifford also feeds himself when he works, he usually catches a Rabbit or two. He’s as wild as can be out there, yet incredibly obedient and always has his eye on us.
“His most recent accomplishment was Dan had shot his first deer a few weeks ago in a rain storm at last light. We went and got Gifford and hiked in with our girls to find the deer. Gifford without any training found the deer within seconds and barked until we go to him, he was very proud.”

Gifford is a magnificent big fella, full working lineage of Elkhound on both sides. Jaegar and Kalia are rough and tumble warriors still and to see the big fella Gifford from that early litter years ago still doing exactly what he is supposed to is heartwarming. This is a great family, they have a perfect lifestyle for Gifford and they will have many years yet with him.
